MEDIA LIBRARY OF THE ART, MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT LIBRARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMANITIES
REGULATION

Article 1
Purpose
The Media Library is a specialized structure of the Department of Humanistic Studies for exclusive support
of university teaching and research activities through the use, within the scope of the established regulations,
of audiovisual and multimedia documents.
From an organizational point of view, the Media Library is hinged on the Library of Art, Music and Entertainment
of the Department and constitutes its second service point.
Article 2
Functions and objectives
The Media Library pursues, in accordance with current legislation, the continuous enrichment of its own
heritage, constantly adapting to technological change, both with regards to
type of storage media, and in relation to the tools necessary for managing them
supports.
Its main objectives, aligned with the above objectives, are:
- ensure continuous research, selection and acquisition, from different channels
distribution, new audiovisual material and contextual analysis, cataloging and
conservation of acquired assets;
- guarantee, with the appropriate formulas established by law, an access service to your own
heritage also through an adequate IT platform that allows thematic research for
the identification and consultation of archive materials;
- promote collaboration with other university centres, institutes, schools, bodies and associations,
national and international structures, also in order to facilitate the research activity of the Department, to which
the Media Library belongs to, and enhances its archival heritage.
Article 3
Computer catalogues
The Media Library makes information on its assets available in the University Catalogue
consultable online and in special computer catalogs such as the Cinematographic Catalogue, the Catalogue
Theatrical, the Musical Catalogue, the Catalog of Operas.
Article 4
Document storage
For reasons of document conservation, the Media Library reserves the right to adopt suitable procedures
transfer and format conversion in compliance with current legislation.
Article 5
Consultation of documents
Consultation of documents is permitted to students, teachers, scholarship holders, research fellows, doctoral students and scholars
of the subject and technical-administrative staff of the University of Turin, according to the methods indicated
by the staff.
Article 6
Booking of the consultation service
The use of the audiovisual stations is subject to reservation. Only in case of availability
requests without prior reservation may be taken into consideration for the stations.
The reservation will respect the order of receipt.
Article 7
User behavior
All users are asked to behave in a dignified manner and it is strictly forbidden to:
- disturb the enjoyment of audiovideo;
- damage in any way the material being consulted, the equipment and the devices;
- make copies or recordings of the material being consulted;
- leave the audio-video room leaving the seat occupied.
Article 8
Access to the loan
The DVD, VHS and CD loan service is granted to researchers, teachers, scholarship holders, research fellows and
to doctoral students of the University of Turin.
The loan is for 30 days for a maximum of 5 documents. An extension of 15 days is permitted in this case
in which the document has not been requested by other users.
The loan is personal. The user who loses or damages a borrowed document is obliged
to arrange, at its own expense, for the replacement of the same with another copy of the same
edition or with a copy of a different edition as long as it is of the same completeness and of similar value.
